A Media Library for everyone

UI & UX Design

Redesign

Introduction

The ARD-Mediathek is a streaming service that is accessible to everyone, offering a wide range of content from the German public television channels. A design thinking process to improve the media libary and enhance the user experience with a new delight feature.

Problem

Traditional TV is declining and the German public television's streaming service is outdated. Unclear arrangement of content & missing consistency of layout.

Solution

A simple and clear design. The most important thing is the content. We added a new delight-feature that lets users personalize their media libary through searches to quickly find what they are looking for. (Figma-Prototype)

Delight Feature

Each user utilises the platform for varied content, despite the necessity to navigate through all available content each time. By employing the option to save a search, users can enhance their digital experience in subsequent visits, without the need to provide more data online.

Background

The ARD Mediathek is a streaming service for German public television that's paid by and available to everyone in Germany. To counteract traditional TV's decline and provide entertainment for all ages, we're redesigning the current media libary of the German public television. In 2021, the ARD Mediathek saw a 62% increase in video views, with 2 billion views recorded. Our redesign uses current content as a basis for better visualization. Source: ardmediathek.de
